Fully eliminating plastic is difficult, but there are efficient ways to limit your exposure.

In our culture today, plastic is so ubiquitous that it is virtually difficult to envision a life without it. However, aiming for a plastic-free life remains an admirable and worthy aim, and with each year that passes, it gets simpler as more people demand plastic substitutes and refuse to partake in the disgusting plastic waste flooding the landfills of our world.

  1. Stop the worst criminals in rubber: If you check the bottom of any plastic container, you’ll see a number (1 through 7) inside a triangle made of arrows. The worst plastics are:#3 — Polyvinyl Chloride, an extremely toxic plastic that contains dangerous additives such as lead and phthalates and is used in plastic wrap, some squeeze bottles, peanut butter jars, and children’s toys#6 — Polystyrene, which contains styrene, a toxin for the brain and nervous system, and is used in Styrofoam, disposable dishes, take-out containers, plastic cutlery#7 — Polycarbonate/another category, which contains bisphenol A and is found in most metal food can liners, clear plastic sippy cups, sport drink bottles, juice, and ketchup containers. 2. Use non-plastic containers: Wherever you go, bring a reusable water bottle and a travel cup. Wrap your lunch in bottles, stainless steel, stacking metal tiffins, sandwich bags, a wooden Bento case, etc. (Mason jars are wonderfully versatile), Take reusables to the grocery store, farmers’ market, or wherever you buy, and weigh them before filling them.

3. Never drink bottled water: It is absurd to buy bottled water in North America, particularly when you realize that bottled water is less supervised than tap water; it is typically only purified tap water; it is exorbitantly costly; it is a gross waste of gathering, bottling, and transporting resources; and it results in needless plastic waste that is not usually recycled.

4. Shop in bulk: The more products you can purchase in bulk, the more the packaging can save you. While this attitude has been the standard at special bulk food stores for years, it is thankfully becoming more widespread in supermarkets. You’re going to save money on grocery prices because if you drive, you’re going to save on the petrol needed on extra trips to the supermarket.

5. Avoid frozen convenience foods: Among the worst culprits of unnecessary packaging waste are processed foods. Frozen foods are covered in foil and sealed in plastic, which is most often coated with plastic. There’s no getting around it; if you’re adamant about ditching plastic, it’s a shopping habit that would have to go forever.

6. Use biodegradable cutlery instead of plastic ones! :

Eco-friendly biodegradable plates and bowls are significant alternatives to commercial paper or plastic dinnerware. The foremost benefit of using Bioware is its positive impact on the planet. Eco-friendly tableware can be composted after use and it disposes itself within 30–90 days in the compost pit created at home or office.

The base material used for manufacturing this crockery is bagasse (made out of sugarcane). Bagasse plates and bowls are toxic-free in-process and final output. It is oil and waterproof. Therefore, it does not collapse with oily heavy items.

Buy eco-friendly bagasse tableware from one of the leading manufacturers of Bioware in and around Gujarat Florona Bioware.
